Sharon Geraci
I am an artist specializing in watercolors, mixed-media collage and acrylic painting. Originally from New Jersey, I lived in Boston and Los Angeles prior to moving to Portland in 1991. I have pursued artistic interests all of my life, and while I am largely self-taught, I have taken many classes and workshops over the years. My early interest in the design of the man-made environment led me to pursue a master’s degree in Urban Design and Community Development at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology after receiving my BA in Urban Studies at Tufts University.
While working in the urban transit and planning field for over 20 years in Boston, Los Angeles and Portland, I engaged in a parallel pursuit of art. Now a full-time artist, I engage in a variety of arts-related activities. I have completed murals for a variety of commercial, non-profit and private residential clients, and have worked with schools as part of the Young Audiences program of Oregon and Southwest Washington. As an arts program consultant I have managed the implementation of major art festivals, and acted as Program Manager for the public art installations in a local Civic Center. I am currently represented by Gallerie Rene’ in Portland, and Parish Gallery in Washington, D.C.., in addition to participating in numerous art shows and exhibitions in the northwest. I teach classes in abstract collage at the Multnomah Art Center in Portland, as a guest instructor at regional art centers, and in my own studio.
